Ampex Data Systems, a Delta Information Systems Company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract from Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC). Ampex will provide a flight Multifunction Data Recorder (MDR) for the Dream Chaser spacecraft cargo system. Ampex will also supply multiple TuffServ TS540 NAS-CH 10/11 Recorders and multi-terabyte memory storage systems.
The Model TS540 unit is a Radiation Tolerant, enhanced solid state recorder to be used for on-board recording during the Dream Chaser spacecraft’s voyage to and from the International Space Station. Additionally, the Model TS540 will utilize ACCE (Ampex Common Compute Environment) NAS Software and GUI interfaces, common to all TuffServ Airborne NAS Products. The TS540 offers a very small 105 cubic inch size and weight of less than 10lbs with a powerful compute engine, making it ideal as an exceptional COTS system solution.
“This contract is part of an on-going revitalization of the Ampex Data Systems family of airborne mission support and collection solutions,” stated Jim Orahood, Vice President/General Manager of Ampex Data Systems. “We are proud to have been selected for SNC’s key program and look forward to our continued success in supporting SNC in this multi-year effort.”
